The authors experience is presented in this work, in which we have implemented a methodology that aims to ensure the quality of the measurements taken in experimental practices of physics laboratory courses targeted at the basic training of engineering students from the Technological University of Pereira (UTP). To meet this goal, students are located from the course of Physics Laboratory 1, within the context of national and international standards that exist around the metrological themes and vocabulary, and are introduced to the application of a generic methodology for estimation of measurement uncertainty of the experimental results. This methodology has been designed and implemented with the aim of creating a culture around this issue. The methodology is based on the GUM "Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement" published by the ISO, which is used for scientific, industrial and legal level, where the proper handling of the measuring equipment and proper expression of their measurements is of utmost importance in the context of quality and competitiveness.
