The social projection strategies of 100 chemical engineering programs were reviewed in this study, in order to recognize the global trends in the relationship with the community. Eight social projection categories were established: open house, programs for students, workers and mobility, environmental centers, scholarships and sponsorships, business and research initiatives, parents and alumni association, support and work with schools, and work community. Based on this review, the current situation of the chemical engineering program at the Universidad de Cartagena is established, which also serves as a reference and support in similar studies in other programs of engineering schools and universities in general.
