This paper deals with the actual possibility of making research within the realm of arts; an investigative creation (i.e.investigation-creation), based on abduction as a preparatory hypothesis, which may allow inferring what remains undetermined within the process of creation, as well in scientific research as in art productions. After elucidating the very concepts of abduction and creation, the former may be used as a strategy to demonstrate the possibility of establishing a parallel amongst scientific research and artwork production processes. This procedure shows that abduction, which precedes deduction as well as induction, is the first step to be taken, and therefore it is herein regarded as the foundation in the processes of scientific investigation. So, it is shown that, in the same way, it may also be the basis in the process of art creation. The discussion carried out in this paper leads to conclude that creation in arts is also a process of investigation, even though, in this case, it does not aim at proving an external reality.
