Four individuals were collected in the Gorgona National Park, confirming the occurrence of Sterna elegans in the Colombian Pacific. In addition, field notes from Tumaco and northern Chocó are provided extending the range of this species to the entire Pacific coast of Colombia. The meanings of these records is discussed in terms of the residence status of the species.
