This paper presents an analysis of artistic interventions in public spaces, as well as a critic approach of the aesthetic conception of nature in the works of Robert Smithson.It also argues that Smithson's work renders a critical glance at "prodigal" and "catastrophic" conceptions of nature, proposing at the same time that, through actions propelled by the current techno-scientific momentum, redemption of nature may be achieved.
