This article shows the importance of implementing virtual labs automation for use in education, the benefits of their implementation and the impact it has academically. It also presents some simulators of computers used in Digital Control Laboratories of the EAFIT University that serve as virtual prototypes for automatic control education in undergraduate programs of Production Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Process Engineering at the same institution
