Migrants 2.0. Functions and potential of Internet use by migrant communities in Argentina. Abstract: In recent years the Internet emerged as one of the tools used by migrant communities to communicate with their people in the country of origin and also maintain social native ties. These technologies acquired an essential role in the countries of destination to build community ties, promote visibility and establish themselves as spaces for identity construction. Subsequently, we hold that the use of information and communication technology (ICT) has recovered and enriched functions of traditional media of migrants as the press and radio. In fact, this article presents a study of the print media of Latin American immigrants in Argentina and its presence on the World Wide Web, on particular, the virtual social networks like Facebook. We propose a comparative analysis of the continuities and ruptures within the media system.
