Sistemas de Alerta Temprana (S.A.T) para la Reducción del Riesgo de Inundaciones Súbitas y Fenómenos Atmosféricos en el Área Metropolitana de Barranquilla
Resumen — Los fenomenos atmosfericos han incrementado su frecuencia e intensidad durante los ultimos anos debido a los efectos del cambio climatico. La Region Caribe Colombiana ha sido una de las zonas mas afectadas debido a inundaciones subitas y fenomenos atmosfericos, aumentando el nivel del riesgo Abstract — The atmospheric phenomena have increased in frequency and intensity in recent years due to the effects of climate change. The Colombian Caribbean region has been one of the most affected with flash flooding due to atmospheric phenomena and increasing the level of risk as it is a vulnerable area due to economic, social and environmental factors. The research program in Risk Management and Climate Change Adaptation from Corporacion Universidad de la Costa has developed strategic actions to reduce the risk of the threat of flash floods and atmospheric phenomena in metropolitan area of Barranquilla through the using monitoring and early warning systems, which allow a timely manner to the authorities and the general community make decisions for disaster prevention. These projects are framed within sustainability policies which makes them economically viable, environmentally responsible and socially just.
