Este articulo presenta los resultados de una investigacion que tuvo como objetivo identificar las representaciones sociales sobre el trabajo en jovenes que estan culminando sus estudios de educacion media en el distrito de Santa Marta, Colombia, desde los postulados de Serge Moscovici. Este estudio de tipo descriptivo transversal recluto 377 estudiantes de sexo femenino y masculino con edades entre los 15 y 20 anos. La recoleccion de la informacion se efectuo con el Cuestionario de Representacion Social sobre el trabajo para jovenes (CRST-J) validado por jueces expertos y un alpha de 0,888. Para el analisis de los resultados se utilizaron pruebas estadisticas. Las representaciones sociales del trabajo estan caracterizadas por un concepto social con preferencia expresiva o intrinseca. Abstract This paper shows the results of an investigation aimed to identify the social representations about the job of young people who are finishing their secondary education in the District of Santa Marta, Colombia; from the postulates of Serge Moscovici. This descriptive cross-sectional study recruited 377 female and male students between 15 and 20 years old. The collection of information was performed with the Social Representation Questionnaire on Youth Work (CRST-J) validated by expert judges and with an alpha of 0.888. For analysis of the results statistical tests were used. Social representations of work are characterized by a social concept with expressive or intrinsic preference.
