This article presents the result of a research work about specifications for online education and distributed learning systems, an approach that contribute to the solution of the disadvantages that were described above. First, one explores the subject of learning design, one of the specifications of greater potential of IMS (IMS global learning consortium), which is based on the concept of the learning objects to define complete teaching-learning processes. Then, a description of the process of incorporation of the learning design concept to the definition of the online education platform is done. This platform is the main objective of this research work. Finally, it described the online education platform that was implemented, which manages and interprets contents based on the IMS specifications.
