This article is derived from the documentary research "Fundamentos del construccionismo social y prácticas terapéuticas inspiradas en éstos" ("Foundations of social constructionism, and therapeutic practices inspired by them"), which approaches topics such as the roots and foundations of social constructionism, its differences with constructivism, and its contributions to approaches such as narrative therapy and collaborative therapy. The purpose of this paper is to provide new insights to professionals interested in epistemology within the field of family therapy, considering the common interests and differences of constructivism and social constructionism because, although these schools of thought share some of their fundamentals, they also have some differences which need to be understood in order to perform a social and therapeutic practice.
