With an interpretive perspective, this article presents the experience of internment and gender identity construction of a group of female adolescents in conflict with the law in the city of Cali, and the way in which some normative, symbolic, and subjective aspects of their socialization processes may influence these women's gender identity construction. This research project took into account the meanings that young women construct about their experiences, considering that their interpretations are associated to their being women, their differentiated gender construction, and, of course, their contexts of reference.
