Currently, because of the high demands of the national and international markets, software organizations have had to improve and innovate more and more about their processes in order to be more competitive and improve products quality. However, the associated costs and the lack of solutions to support process innovation in companies still remains a challenge, especially for micro, small and medium-sized software development companies, which don't have the necessary resources to carry out such projects. In this sense and in order to provide a solution, this article introduces the results of a systematic review of the literature and a detailed description of Innova-Procedure, a procedure to support processes innovation in small businesses. Furthermore, the application of Innova-Procedure is presented in a case study.
