Search for top squark pair production in the dielectron channel

Abstract:

This report describes the first search for top squark pair production in the channel ${t}_{1}t{\overline{\ifmmode \tilde{}\else \~{}\fi{}}}_{1}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}b\overline{b}{\stackrel{\ifmmode \tilde{}\else \~{}\fi{}}{\ensuremath{\chi}}}_{1}^{+}{\stackrel{\ifmmode \tilde{}\else \~{}\fi{}}{\ensuremath{\chi}}}_{1}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\mathrm{ee}$+jets+${E}_{T}$ using $74.9\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}8.9$ pb${}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ of data collected using the D\O{} detector. A 95% confidence level upper limit on $\ensuremath{\sigma}\ensuremath{\cdot}B$ is presented. The limit is above the theoretical expectation for $\ensuremath{\sigma}\ensuremath{\cdot}B$ for this process, but does show the sensitivity of the current D\O{} data set to a particular topology for new physics.
