An approach to intercultural education as education in and for diversity is presented in this article.A definition of intercultural encounter as an "event," inspired by the philosophy of Jacques Derrida, is proposed.Intercultural encounter is shown to be ethically binding worldwide, with intercultural encounter recommended as a key concept in the debate on intercultural education.
