Changes experienced in organizations derived from globalization and markets demands, it is required that the selection of managerial positions to be more effective to respond in the same way to the organization, and hold it·s survive. In the research are compared the practices of managerial selection between 1996 and 2006 at Cali city, through results from research project iAspectos claves y prAEcticas de selecciUn de cargos gerencialesi de la Universidad del Valle (1997), and from three multinational organizations and three specialized consulting firms in 2006, with whom were realized semi-structured interviews exploring procedures aspects, techniques and instruments, decisions and comparison criteria, people who participate, uses areas and factors typically assessed, among other aspects, to explore variations on the topic in a decade. Results show that have been variations in the practices of managerial positions selection processes related with growing and globalize demands such as the reduction of the time of the processes, implication of other positions and areas different to Human Resources area, the implementation of techniques according to demands of
