Boaventura de Sousa Santos, identified three crises faced by the university in the twentieth century: of hegemony, legitimacy and institutionalism. The first led her to stop being the only institution in the field of higher education and research results, the second led to access restrictions and therefore society to demand democracy and equality policies, the third took her to impose standards of efficiency and productivity of enterprise type. This paper show a critical reflection on the current practice of the university to demonstrate the permanence of such contradictions in the presence of accreditation and the skills, proposing an alternative from the viewpoint of pedagogical, humanistic, and technoscience, to resize university functions in defining and solving social problems, national and global.
