In this paper we address the problem of determining whether a given set of constraints involving marginal and conditional probabilities and expectations of functions are compatible. In the finite discrete case the problem may be viewed as one involving solution of linear equations in restricted domains. Some related concepts of near compatibility are introduced. In addition we consider cases in which the given conditional probabilities and expectations are imprecisely specified. Illustrative examples are provided.
