Abstract:
The complex dynamics of electrons in pairs of coupled quantum dots and in asymmetric double quantum wells is studied theoretically. We focus our attention on the scaling relations of the energy spectra as a function of some of the geometrical parameters and symmetries of the system. We found that the tunneling rates and the so called bottle neck phenomenon, exhibit definite scaling behavior for some ranges of values of the geometrical parameters. This could provide some insights in the understanding of the role of the symmetry of the system in the quantum coherence loss mechanisms. (© 2004 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
