The paper presents one of the results of the research project “Analysis of the Development of the Franchise System in the Department of Meta” whose results are the product of instruments applied in 2010 and 2012 by the group “J & J Investigadores”, supported by students of the Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia through directed research and conforming the hotbeds of research “Gestores Franq” and “Dimay”. The project’s overall objective is to analyze the development of the franchise system in the department of Meta, with specific objectives of diagnosing the franchise system in the department, designing a guide for the development of the franchise as a business model, and promoting the franchise system in the academic and productive sectors of the region. These objectives are met by diagnosing the franchise system in the department of Meta; identifying the profile of companies that can become a franchise (franchisors) and the process for doing so; and creating a guide that presents, in a didactic way, general and specific aspects of franchises, and the phases that must be filled to become a franchisee.
