Transformers are critical assets of the electric system because its high initial investment costs and because they a critical elements in the grid. Field drying process extend the life of transformers as water is an ageing agent. Nevertheless drying processes are expensive, so a study is necessary to evaluate when and to what extent carry out a drying process. A tool was developed for decision support in drying process. The tool evaluates the cost of the life gained by performing the drying process and compares it with the cost of the treatment.
