A comparative analysis of the distribution of the enrolment in the academic offer of bachelordegree programs in political science is presented by sex according to the differenttypes of institutions in which the career is taught, as well as in the different geographicalareas. The analysis is aimed to support the idea that, because of hierarchical fragmentationthat characterizes higher education system in Mexico, the increased incorporationof women to university studies in recent decades does not necessarily mean a step forwardin the consolidation of egalitarian structures of opportunities between men and womenin the field of higher education, but rather an inclusion on unequal basis.
