Lasing in atomic iodine pumped with incoherent, nuclear-stimulated XeBr * fluorescence is reported. These experiments represent the first demonstration of a nuclear flashlamppumped laser of any type. The fluorescence of XeBr * under nuclear pumping is also discussed.
