This paper revises the current state of fixed satellite services in Latin America, focusing on the current and future available capacities in the Andean Region. A comparison between global and regional satellite operators existing in this region is made, regarding their fleet covering it. This study also considers prices offered by these operators on the zone, and a regional tariff model is obtained based on agreed bandwidth and duration, both for commercial and universal access services projects. Main considerations for an indigenous satellite project are made.
