Study of the acoustical behavior of a 20-element rectangular array of electrodynamic horn loudspeakers used to generate a parametric array in air resulted in good agreement between the experimentally determined secondary source levels and beam patterns and theory for saturation-limited performance. The feasibility of splitting an array into two interlaced subarrays, each excited separately by one of the primary frequencies, is demonstrated.
