This paper wants to show a comparison of some GIS Desktop tools, bearing in mind the parameters of evaluation established on the ISO/IEC 9126-3 norm. The comparison was made by the Grupo de Investigacion en el Manejo de la Informacion GIMI within the project Sistema de Información Geográfico para Planes de Ordenamiento Territorial Municipal, to choose the best tool for the development of a suite guided to manage the Land Use Planning.
