Simuliidae belongs to a group of medically important insects since they are involved in the transmission of several filaria to humans and useful species to man such as birds, bovine, equine and porcine livestock. A graphic key for seven species of the famlily Simuliidae, ocurring in the Teusacá river and its tributaries, Municipality of La Calera, is presented. The key includes the various states of development: larvae, cocoon and adults (male and female).
