The main characteristics of "PowerBus™" 1, a protocol for data transmission over the power lines in a low voltage distribution grid, are described. They were verified through the field evaluation of a small master/slave network applied to the reading of meters of the electrical power consumption. Some conclusions and results, framed in the context of automatic reading of meters "AMR", are settled down.
