Magnetic susceptibility measurements have shown that for a range of II 1-z Mn z III 2 VI 4 and I 2 ( 1-x )Mn z III 2 VI 4 alloys, crystallographic ordering occurs in the fields of solid solution, these ordering transitions not having been observed in previous DTA measurements. The magnetic measurements are extended to the systems Ag 2(1-x) Mn z In 2 Te 4 and Cu 2(1-z) Mn z In 2 Te 4 and more sensitive DTA measurements made to find the ordering transitions in these plus five other systems. The revised T(z) phase diagrams are presented and it is seen that as many as three different ordering transitions may occur for any particular alloy composition. The data from both the magnetic susceptibility and the DTA measurements are used to discuss the structure of the various ordered phases and the types of the various ordering transitions.
