A complete eTextBook with multiple executable elements has been created and Web-based versions have been placed in the National Science Digital Library. The book's file formats and executable elements are chosen to be platform independent, highly useable and free. While future technologies and operating systems promise improved executable books, the created eTextbook highlights some of the features possible with existing technologies. The prototype eTextBook includes text, computational laboratories, demonstrations and video--based lecture modules.
