The rate of seismicity in Colorado is characterized as low to moderate (Kirkham and Rogers 1981), yet the state has a history of occasional large-magnitude events (M > 5.5) (Talley and Cloud 1962; Kirkham and Rogers 2000), including an earthquake with estimated moment magnitude of 6.6 in north-central Colorado in 1882 (McGuire et al. 1982; Spence et al. 1996)....
