Exponential acceleration of production and transmission of information fea tures currentsociety, development celerity and diversification of technological tools for informationprocessing and storage make an increasing amount of elaborate knowledge and dataavailable for citizens on the entire world around. This article sustains the thesis that thisphenomenon, with no antecessor, generates a kind of group intelligence which shouldbe improved by means of two strong strategies:design and implement social and cultural settings for understanding andproducingshared information, and incorporate technological tools in order to empower thosesettings.
