The evolution of the celebration of the fifteenth birthday as a manifestation of hybrid culture. Resumen El articulo presenta resultados de un ejercicio investigativo realizado en el marco del Seminario Horizontes del Pensamiento y se centra en la descripcion de la evolucion de la celebracion de los quince anos en la sociedad contemporanea latinoamericana como una manifestacion cultural hibrida por medio de recopilacion bibliografica y analisis contextual de la informacion adquirida. Se postula que la celebracion de los quince anos por ser una manifestacion de la cultura posee las mismas caracteristicas de esta, es decir toma tambien de la cultura su hibridez, evidente en la evolucion que esta ha tenido a traves de los anos. Esta hibridacion esta latente en la multitemporalidad, en los cruces socioculturales donde lo tradicional y lo moderno se mezclan, la transnacionalizacion, por la combinacion entre lo culto, lo popular y lo urbano, y la influencia de la globalizacion y la sociedad de consumo. Lo ideal es entendernos como seres culturales atentos a lo que hay detras del rito. Palabras clave: hibridacion, celebracion de los quince anos, ritos de iniciacion, cultura, globalizacion, modernidad Abstract This article describes de evolution of the fifteenth birthday in the actual Latin-American society as a manifestation of a hybrid culture, by the compilation of bibliographic information and the analysis of this information in the proper context. It is postulated that the celebration of the fifteenth birthday has the same characteristics as the culture itself because it is a manifestation of it; it takes from the culture the hybrid context that is evident through the evolution of the years. This hybridization is latent in the many combined temporalities, in the socialcultural crossings where the tradition and the modern are mixed, the transnationalization, for the mixture between the concepts of cultured, popular and urban, and the influence of the globalization and the consume society.
