Objectives: Aim This comprehensive systematic review seeks to describe economic and work migrants’ views of barriers and determinants in health services’ accessibility. More specifically, the objectives are • Identify qualitative research that relate to access to health care services in economic and work migrant populations within the period 1997-2008 • To evaluate the quality of the qualitative studies regarding determinants about the access to health care services in economic and work migrant populations • To synthesize qualitative findings on barriers and determinants to health care access in economic and work migrant populations Criteria for considering studies for this review Types of participants This review will consider studies that include migrants for economic and working causes; mainly proceeding from developing countries such as Latin-American, Eastern Europe, Africa and Asia, excluding immigrants coming from developed countries, or immigration for political causes (refugees for instance). Also, studies considering immigrants with the same nationality of the host country will not be included. Types of interventions /Phenomena of Interest This component of the review will consider studies that include the barriers and determinants to the health services accessibility in economic and work immigrants. Types of outcome measures/ anticipated outcomes These will be focused on two aspects: barriers, conditioning and facilitator factors, and the impact of health services as a determinant of migrants’ health.
