Clinical Psychology: The art of human relations. As clinical psychologists, is inevitable to recognize that, despite the use of theories and methods, we are not just technical and our patients are more than a set of symptoms described in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders . It is imperative to understand that, to the extent that the therapist is capable of displaying a variety of skills based on the art of human relations, he/she is helping to create an environment where the different theories and intervention methods can be applied effectively. This essay develops some of the skills proposed by Shakow (1949) ¾ conference in Boulder¾, which will link the theoretical rigor of the clinical psychologist with human relations, a bond that acts as a crucial instrument in the patient-therapist relation and the recovery from psychological wounds.
