Abstract:

The Myrtaceae family has species that produce essential oils of great interest, such as Melaleuca alternifolia and Eucaliptus globulus. We have researched some species growing in the East Region of Colombia. The essential oils of leaves of Calycolpus moritzianus (O. Berg) Burret from five localities of Norte de Santander (Chinacota, Ocana, Pamplonita, Salazar and Toledo) in Colombia were obtained by two extraction methods: Microwave assisted-Hydrodistillation (MWHD) and Steam Distillation (SD). The chemical constituents were identified by HRGC-FID and HRGC-MS. The main constituents were 1,8-Cineole (20.2-42%), Limonene (21.2-40%), α-Pinene (3.2-8%), α-Terpineol (2.1-6.3%), Guaiol (1.7-14%) and β-Caryophyllene (1.7-3.0%).
