The main purpose this article is to discuss the relationship between orality and writing as important features of human language development. We approach this discussion focused on the processes of teaching and researching in Spanish as the mother language. Our discussion is supported by findings of two research projects carried out by teachers that are part of the Group Language, Culture and Identity.
