This study tackles socialization on values and coexistence from an action research based on a participatory and dialectical approach that uses the Family Discussion, an innovative tool whose aims are to encourage reflection and dialogue within the family and to involve families in the analysis and transformation of their reality. This strategy encourages debate and invites us to think about the values found in the family, collects information on the different members of the family unit and in turn, raises awareness of the issues. A total of 492 families with at least one child between 7 and 16 years participated in this study. The results show the potential of the instrument as a resource facilitator for the identification of positive elements and dynamics and of actual or potential problems. They also show its usefulness to involve families in the analysis of their own reality and initiate a process of reflection, accompanied by the resources of the community, allows the formulation of lines of action for processing by favoring the construction of a positive coexistence.
