This article presents some findings and reflections as a result of a research project on the construction of female identity of black women from Sardi, an area located in the Aguablanca district of Cali. We will specify how women live, as well as their opportunities and difficulties and what, in their opinion, is attributed to them; similarly, we will point at theessence of black women and how they fit themselves into society according to what has been internalized from socialization processes. It is a detailed analytical exercise from the perspective of social work, which favors the recognition of subjectivity and the meanings that female subjects find incertain elements of their realities.
