This article is the result of an ongoing reflective process and classroom research for the teaching of a course called Pedagogical Trends, offered to students registered in various B.Ed. programs at Universidad de Antioquia (Medellin, Colombia). The research reveals the need to design teaching proposals that are holistic and promote students' critical thinking.
