Unlike what happens in the presidential elections in Brazil, where the PT and the PSDB alternate in competition for the presidency, subnational elections have shown a different dynamic over time, even different from that of national political. Therefore, this article tries to sketch out the scenario and dynamics of political parties at the subnational level in Brazil in the last elections of October 2014. To do so, an attempt is made to analyze the outcome of elections for governor of the States and the Federal District, in addition to observing the composition of state legislature seats, taking the framework of parties as the basis of the explanation.
