La Educacion Artistica juega un papel fundamental en los procesos formativos en la escuela, pues permite a traves de la experiencia estetica una aproximacion a las finalidades de toda educacion: el acceso al mundo cultural. La vigencia y alcance de esta educacion es abordada desde dos aspectos: la agenda de la politica publica a nivel continental y los momentos de desarrollo curricular de la educacion del arte. Se trata de demostrar que el impacto de lo artistico en la educacion va mas alla de establecer o regular la didactica de un area o un campo de saber, pues lo que se pone en juego no es solo un reto pedagogico para la escuela o el maestro, sino que se convierte en un reto colectivo, en el que esta involucrada la sociedad entera en tanto que educar esteticamente contribuye al desarrollo individual y social desde una perspectiva democratica fundada en el reconocimiento y la legitimidad del otro. Art education: democratic practiceand curriculum insertion Abstract Artistic education plays a key role in the school learning processes and allows, through an aesthetic experience, the approximation of all the education aims: access to the cultural world. The validity and scope of this education have been studied from two aspects: the public policy agenda at contnental level and the curriculum development moments of artistic education.Results have shown that the artistic impact in education goes beyond esta- blishing or regulating the teaching of a knowledge area or field since the question does not rely only a pedagogic challenge for the school or for the teacher, but on a collective challenge in which the whole society is involved.At the same time, a esthetic education contributes to individual and social development from a democratic perspective based on the recognition and legitimacy of the other.
