Abstract:

With the advance of technology, the size scale inorganic fillers in polymers has been declining, reaching the nanoscale. Nanofillers integrating polymeric materials have been shown to improve some properties such as stiffness and strength, however, the processability of the material is affected. This study analyzes the effect of the incorporation of nanofillers as calcium carbonate (CaCO3) and amorphous fumed silica (Cabosil®) on the processability and mechanical behavior of the material. In order to establish the effect of the amount of nanofillers in the material, two types of analysis, one made by filling simulation with finite volume, to evaluate parameters such as injection pressure and clamping force of the melt behavior (trapped air and connecting lines). The other experimental analysis is performed to evaluate parameters such as stiffness, elongation, and modulus of elasticity
