The paper presents how the pedagogical application of CAD software in the descriptive geometry course, led to improvement spatial perception ability within the students of six degree programs offered by the School of Engineering at the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, UPB, Bucaramanga. The methodology allowed, through the use of a CAD software, stimulate the spatial intelligence of young people from first semester and therefore improve understanding and resolution of problems that involve the breakdown in their different dimensions for the approach and mathematical solution. Similarly, facilitated the understanding and leveraging of descriptive geometry. The results of this research showed an increase of 23% of the student population tested that successfully passed the course, likewise, enriched perception and analysis of spatial situations applied to engineering problems. The above was reflected in the student desertion index during the basic cycle of engineering, which declined 14%.
