During this research project we conducted an analysis of the information registered by Bogotá's air quality monitoring network. We built a database that was designed to facilitate the processes of validating and analyzing the air quality data, which were used to quantify the city's air pollution problem. Our results suggest that air pollutants such as carbon monoxide and sulfur and nitrogen oxides do not represent a major air pollution problem. At the same time, however, the particulate matter ambient air concentrations in Bogotá tend to be much higher than the levels suggested by the local air quality standards.
