In its official version, modern science promotes itself as the activity and the product of a scientific community committed to the search of non-interested, ethically neutral knowledge. Of course, ‘non-interest’ and ‘neutrality’ should not here be confused with indifference , inasmuch as all scientific activity is guided by a confident and optimistic tone with confusing resonances of progress and well-being. Nevertheless, following the question about how to reconcile pure, immaculate, white knowledge with the obscurity contained in this ethical neutrality, we do no longer very well known in which possible setting to place confident scientific optimism
