This article makes a historical journey through the major moments of what has been called “School social criticism” and that some have called “Francfort School” in honor of the city where its most important representatives, especially those known as the first generation of Francfort, among which include Felix Weil, Friedrich Pollock, Kurt Albert Gerlach and Max Horkheimer. To achieve the intended proposal, which is to present a historical overview and the main discussions at all times, emphasis is placed on the origin of the school and two generations, taking into account the historical and some significant events for the consolidation of a critical view of society. This while recognizing that some theorists as Stefan and Gandler proposed third generation writers such as Honneth and Dubiel.
