Resumen: El rendimiento academico se constituye en un indicador del nivel de aprendizaje alcanzado por el estudiante, representa el nivel de eficacia en la consecucion de los objetivos curriculares para las diversas asignaturas, y en nuestro pais se expresa mediante un calificativo (Test basados en Criterios) o promedio ponderado; es asi como en el sistema educativo nacional e internacional se da mayor importancia a este indicador y existe la necesidad de estudiar los determinantes del rendimiento academico de los estudiantes de parte de las instituciones educativas; al igual que la desercion para que se logren disenar politicas educativas que les permitan alcanzar, a ellos, el mas alto rendimiento academico y bajo nivel de desercion estudiantil. Abstract: Academic performance is an indicator of the level of learning achieved by the student, represents the level of effectiveness in achieving curriculum goals for the various subjects, and in our country is expressed by a qualifier (based Test Criteria) or weighted average, is how in national and international educational system is given greater importance to this indicator and there is a need to study the determinants of academic performance of students by educational institutions, as well as the drop to be achieved designing educational policies that enable them to reach them, the highest academic performance and dropout rates low.
