This article presents a general view of the socioeconomic conditions of families whose minors are under state protection in foster homes. The methodology used was a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods, with a sample of 50 families, using techniques such as interviews, interactive workshops, and surveys. The results establish the difficulties that families face on a daily basis in highly conflictive contexts and that are victims of social outcast, situations that both limit and constrain the family agency capacity. Finally, there is the need of strengthening families, communities and institutional networks in order to create greater education and employment opportunities, as well as to promote activities for emotional and affective support groups with the intention of protecting children's rights.
