The national economic and social development is conceived from the leadership of the regions when they appropriate the knowledge and get into a real productive element for changes that a society needs. Colombia cannot take this dynamic off, and assuming that the software development is considered as knowledge industry, they have been doing huge efforts in order to consolidate it as one of the most important sectors in the national economy. Caldas, Quindio and Risaralda Departments have involved a position about Software Industry into their Development Plans and Science and Technology Agendas. That is why, this article wants to be a reference point between the Software Industry study and characterization and an industrialization model concept in the Coffee Triangle.
